Coach Norwood Named NJCAA Gulf South District Coach of the Year

The remarkable season for the Palm Beach State College men's basketball program has earned another major honor, as head coach Tae Norwood has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Gulf South District Coach of the Year.

The recognition highlights a historic year for the Panthers and further solidifies Norwood's reputation as one of the top coaches in junior college basketball. Under his leadership, Palm Beach State put together one of the most successful seasons in program history, combining elite performance on the court with a culture of discipline, development, and accountability.

Norwood guided the Panthers to an outstanding campaign that included a dominant regular season and a postseason run that placed the program among the top teams in the region. Palm Beach State entered postseason play with an impressive 29-1 record and the No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA Division II national poll, showcasing the consistency and competitiveness that defined the team throughout the year.

The Panthers' success culminated in a championship performance at the FCSAA Division II Tournament, where Palm Beach State captured its first title in nearly five decades with a convincing 81-55 victory in the championship game. The achievement marked a milestone moment for the program and highlighted the dramatic progress the team has made under Norwood's leadership.  The Panthers followed up that FCSAA Championship with their first ever NJCAA Gulf South District Championship, defeated Coastal Alabama-North 64-59, to clinch a spot in the NJCAA DII Tournament

For Norwood, the Coach of the Year honor reflects the collective effort of his players and coaching staff.
