Panthers Claim 4th Straight National Championship
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Dynasty is confirmed.
No. 1 seed Palm Beach State College won its fourth straight NJCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship on Saturday, defeating No. 2 Lake-Sumter State College, 3-1, in an All-FCSAA final.
While winning National Championships has become the standard for Palm Beach State, Saturday marked the Lakehawks' first appearance in the title tilt and they more than held their own.
In pool play, the Panthers beat No. 7 Central Wyoming and No. 6 Trinidad on Thursday then No. 5 Sandhills and No. 3 Mesa on Friday, all in straight sets.
Meanwhile, Lake-Sumter State matched its FCSAA rival, defeating Trinidad and Sandhills on Thursday and Central Wyoming and Richard Bland on Friday, all in straight sets, to earn its first berth in the National Championship match.
Following pool play, the four semifinalists were re-seeded. Nothing changed, however, for Palm Beach State and Lake-Sumter State, who won rematches with Central Wyoming and Mesa, respectively.
