Lake Worth, FL -- Palm Beach State Catcher Mason Doolittle drafted in round 18 of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft by the Washington Nationals.
Doolittle has committed to play collegiately at Appalachian State for the 2019-2020 season and will now decide whether to go pro or honor his commitment to Appalachian State.
Doolittle originally signed with Louisiana State University out of high school but transferred to Palm Beach State during the 2017-2018 campaign. During his Freshman season at Palm Beach, Doolittle batted .352 with 5 home runs, 28 RBI, and 26 runs scored. Doolittle's 5 home runs led the team. This past season, Doolittle batted .325 with 30 RBI, which tied for the team lead, even though he missed time due to injury.
Due to his extraordinary play, Mason was named to the FCSAA/NJCAA Region VII All-State 2nd Team, the only Panther to appear on either the 1st or 2nd Team. Additionally, Mason was named to the Southern Conference 1st Team.
Mason was the only Panther drafted during the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft.
We at the Palm Beach State Athletic Department wish Mason the best of luck in whatever direction he chooses.
